On 02/06/2025 at approximately 0929 hours, I responded to the MCSO Lobby in reference to a dog being shot.
Upon arrival, I spoke with the complainant, [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that she owns a pitbull. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she goes to school in Statesboro, and why she is at school, [VICTIM #2], keeps her dog for her at [9500 BLOCK] Ga. Hwy. 99. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that while Mr. [VICTIM #2] and his girlfriend are at work, they put the dog inside of a cage on the front porch of the residence. While Mr. [VICTIM #2] and his girlfriend were not home, a Dayvon Taylor went to their house to shoot some guns. According to Ms. [VICTIM #1], Mr. Taylor did not have permission to be at the property. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that while Mr. Taylor was shooting the guns, her dog some how got out of the cage and was running around. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she was told the dog attacked Mr. Taylor, biting him on the leg, but no proof was able to be given. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that Mr. Taylor then shot her dog. Ms. [VICTIM #1] advised that the dog had to have surgery and showed me a picture of where the dog was shot in the front right leg. The picture shown to me, showed the dog with a rather large hole on his shoulder arear of it’s front right leg. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that she would like to press charges against Mr. Taylor for shooting her dog.
I was able to make contact with Mr. [VICTIM #2]. Mr. [VICTIM #2] stated that the dog was inside of the crate on the front porch, which was shown to me via a Ring Door Bell camera. Mr. [VICTIM #2] stated that Mr. Taylor called and asked if he could go over there to shoot some new guns. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised that Mr. Taylor was told no, he could not go over, because they were not home. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised that after being denied permission, Mr. Taylor still went onto their property and started shooting the guns. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised that while Mr. Taylor was shooting the guns, Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s dog escaped the cage in fear and began running around. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised that Mr. Taylor told him that the dog attacked him, so he shot it. Mr. [VICTIM #2] does not want to press charges on Mr. Taylor for trespassing.
Lastly I spoke with Mr. Taylor. Mr. Taylor advised that he went to Mr. [VICTIM #2]’s residence to shoot some guns. I asked Mr. Taylor if he had permission to be there. Mr. Taylor stated no, he was not granted permission, but knew it was an open field where they shot before. Mr. Taylor stated while shooting guns, the dog escaped the cage and was running around scared. Mr. Taylor advised that at one point the dog jumped inside of his car, around a child so they got the dog back out of the car. Mr. Taylor stated that they started shooting guns again, when the dog began to run at him. Mr. Taylor stated he fell and dog turned and ran off. Mr. Taylor then advised that he got back up and began to shoot again. Mr. Taylor stated the dog charged him again and he shot towards the dog and grazed it. Mr. Taylor stated he shot the dog out of fear.
Based off the stories given to me, I will be applying for a arrest warrant on Mr. Taylor for Cruelty to Animals. Based off testimonial evidence and Mr. Taylor’s own statements, Mr. Taylor knowingly entered a property, that he admitted to not having permission to enter. Mr. Taylor admitted to shooting guns on said property while trespassing. Mr. Taylor advised of 3 situations involving the dog, while shooting guns, but he did not leave the property to get away from the dog. Mr. Taylor stated that he did shoot the dog out of fear, but Mr. Taylor was trespassing on a property he was not granted to be at, shooting guns and had 2 separate occasions he could have left, to get away from the dog.
